Trying to convince my mom that i need a laptop?

Buy one yourself. Laptops are nice but not required. If you want something that expensive you should have to earn it.

Try telling her it is an investment in your future, for example by her buying you a laptop your work can be produced at a higher standard, which will therefore increase your chances of a better grade, and could potentially get you a better a paying job in the years to come.

If i were you i would try saving my money the best that i can. And just tell her that you will improve your grades and maybe do more work around the house. If you save your money you can tell her that you will help pay for it and that will convice her even more.
