Have you downloaded the "installer" portion to your desktop, or where-ever? At what point are you getting the error with the installer, before, or after it does the actual download of the program?

Have you tried rebooting your machine, then immediately running the installer as soon as the desktop comes up?

Do you have any anti-virus software installed, especially Norton?

I'm typing this from Chrome, I didn't have any problems with the install, and have NOD32 for AV running on this machine. (XP virtual machine under Linux)

I won't be using chrome for a few days, because I **REALLY** miss adblock plus for Firefox, and until someone comes up with a similar plug-in for chrome, as far as I'm concerned it's unusable... I had completely forgotten how BAD the level of utter crap is on the web.

I must admit, though it is FAST! I'd love it once it has a native Linux version and ADBLOCK PLUS available.

Also, Dan is full of cr... Chrome is open-source. There are no "hidden" sections ANYWHERE, *unlike* microsoft's internet explorer or safari.

Your problem is Norton security probably. I had the same problem.

Go to Norton Internet Security, and click on the settings tab, and turn everything off while you download Google Chrome.

    Hope this helps!

You have to use the following page:

    http://www.google.com/chrome

It's likely you used another Google site http://gears.google.com/chrome/?hl=en

The second link has problems. I had the same problem originally until someone else helped me out. The first link works. Hope it helps.

Just get Firefox 3, Google are just going to spy and log everything you do anyway. So don't bother tying to download it.

    Hope this helps.

Well, it is still in beta. It may not work in all situations. I would submit a bug report to Google and tell them the specifics of your problem so they can fix it.
