the biggest problems in the USA, comes from nigeria, ghana, and lagos. The biggest hint is they usually send pictures that looks like dark skinned (or tanned) white women with dark hair, and claim to have family in europe especially london. but they can come form anywhere. another hotspot is the phillipines, the only difference is they actually send photos of them selves.
another clue is during the 1st week after meeting you , they claim to have this "deep unyielding love" for you. and may start sending alot of fancy poems and love notes.
soon after that they start asking for money , such as to help pay for school or a plane ticket to come visit you.75% of "nigerien scammers" claim to have a relative in a hospital or the scammer themself may claim to be in a hspital.
all dating sites are prone to scammers, they same scammer cane be on multiple dating sites mascarading as a "normal dating"
another big clue is that the pictures they send are well made, meaning almost "supermodel like' as far as the style of dress, the location of the photo, and the way the person in the photo is posed. the make up is alway professional in style. so why is this?
the actual scammer downloads pictures of real life models in training. and simply downloads them on yahoo personals or any other dating site. nearly all of the scammers' real gender is male. IF YOU HAVE BEEN VICTIM OF ANY SCAMMER CHECK THIS LINK AND YOU MAY RECOGNIZE A PHOTO ONE HAVE USED.
btw the models are innocent in these cases and has nothing to do with the actual scammer. they are just as much as a victim as the people that fall for the scams.

btw I've had about 6 scammers contact my profile on an English Site in the last couple of weeks. Anytime you alter your profile, they are on you like a rash

They come from all over, they are people who read and answer you but if you pay good attention to their diction you will know.
Anyone who seeks favors, pushes for action and requests money are usually the ones to block.

They can come from anywhere... but using a paid website reduces the chances as they website keeps their information and can be traced back.
I wouldn't use free websites.
