What is the difference between abortion and hunting?

Sarah Palin opposes abortion but has been a life-long hunter. I understand the distinction between opposing abortion and supporting the death penalty (an innocent life vs. a guilty one), but unless you are killing animals as your sole source of food, how can one justify killing an innocent animal for sport/entertainment but oppose killing an innocent human life?

A good point. Poster Katie, why do hunters go to such extreme measures to find a deer to shoot if there is an over population problem. Face the facts that there is no deer over population. Only 5% of the population are hunters, 95% are not hunters. It's a cruel and barbaric practice and people in Alaska might find Palins hunting nothing unusual, but that will not be the case in most of the other 48 states.

One can be and is used to sustain life through sustenance (not everyone is a vegetarian/vegan) and the other is to end life...

Also if there weren't things like hunting for sport (which the meat is usually eaten by someone) then we would be overrun by some animals such as deer due to overpopulation...

Janet, there may not be in your area or there may not be right at this very moment... but I know that in the past here in Northern Texas, Ohio, Oklahoma and Missouri there had been problems of over population of deer.... it does happen... I know this because I had family members go out and hunt in these areas... This is why game wardens also place limits on how many of any specific animal one is allowed to hunt and kill... Some years it's one and some it's more and some it's none...

Besides most that hunt even for sport take home the meat thus making it about food as well they won't have to buy beef for a year or better thus saving a cow or two from the horrible feed lots which in my opinion are WAY worse than hunting for sport...

And I don't know what state you are from but in most states hunting is quite common... at least everywhere I have ever lived and I have lived or been to or have family all over the US. And I have lived primarily in major cities such as Dallas, OKC, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and have family spread out all over the place...

    well. honestly.

i do not believe it in any form no matter what.

and yes ive lost a child where i was put in a position to abort or allow my child to die within me. i chose for him to die inside me in peace. which he did. i never regret my choice.

from science view if u really look into it. babies nerve system starts up before the mother even knows they are pregnant.

ive watched the silent scream. but theres a more extreme abortion video clip it shows the babies face during an abortion. im sorry to be so graffic but i wanted to see for myself as i was in a situation where i was made to choose. so i researched.

    the baby suffered greatly.

    i was heart broken.

my son was born in peace instead of pain and dispair like many.

    rip my dear son.

ADDITION:TO PREVENT ME RELIVING. TYPE IN ABORTION VIDEO IN GOOGLE. YOU WILL GET ALL YOUR ANSWERS. CHECK OUT THE PICTURES IN IMAGES OF THESE VERY DEVELOPED BABIES EVEN AT 10 WEEKS.

to answer u. hurting anything that breathes. is cruel.

I don't see a difference. I am against abortion, and I am against hunting for "sport." All life is sacred.

    Human versus NOT human!

I find hunting very distasteful, but to compare it to abortion is insane!
