Being a good English is a very noble idea, and the starting salary for most teachers is about $45,000 or higher (for 9-month work years). Most English majors go on to graduate school--although the degree is good for law school as well. From a good university with top grades, there are possibilities in areas like consulting or publishing (the second doesn't pay well for a long time). A PhD would allow her to teach at a university, again if she gets good grades and has a good dissertation.

A college English professor? Or journalism, something where she would write a lot.
