Make your own clothes! Material?
Can anyone tell me where I could obtain some material to make my own clothes? Material for curtains etc is dead easy to get, but I'm talking some nice soft cotton etc. Any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks everyone. Firstly, I am in the UK, so need a website that delivers to the UK. Secondly, I am open to materials. Prints or plain is fine. I am interested in soft baggy cottons mostly. Thanks!
I suppose I should also ask if there are any good websites with clothes patterns to help me measure and make items?

There are lots of places. But you need to be more specific with the type of material you're looking for. Knit? Woven? What's it for?, etc.
Start out by looking at fabrics.com - they have pretty good prices and a lot of times they have some nice designer fabrics.
I'm a fabric addict, so if you put more information on what you're looking for, I'll come check and see if I can help better.

Patterns are available through companies like Burda, Vogue, Simplicity, and Butterick. If you're a beginning seamstress, it's easier to go by the pattern instruction which will tell you which fabrics you need and how much for a particular pattern. Look up fabric stores in the phone book. People there are usually helpful if you need something like "lightweight faille" or "wool crepe"

You need to go to a fabric store. You'll find mounds of diffrent materials there, some even with prints, but be careful because some are VERY expensive.
Check the prices first.

Ususally you'll find a fabric stall on your local market, They should have what you want, or maybe take a day trip to Birmingham, Leicester, London MK, Or if your up north try Manchester, Bury Market or another city .,.
