BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR IS STUPIDLY SMOKING!!!!!?
my neighbor knocked at my door 2 hours ago to tell me that my car was smoking, so i hurry out and popped the hood, and saw my brake fluid reservoir smoking, well its actually it was the wires that connect to the brake fluid reservoir that are smoking. so i disconnected them and it stopped. i have waited 2 hours and i tried connecting them and as soon as they come into contact it starts smoking again. now i need to run out to go to school and i'm stuck and i dont know if its safe to drive around with the harness disconnected.or what could possibly be making those wires smoke? EMERGENCY HELP PLZ.

this is an EMERGENCY...forget all the details....take this car immediately to a reputable shop. Brake fluid will catch on fire, and it burns extremely hot. Not to mention, the brake system is the most important safety system on the car. You never take chances with a brake system. It's your obligation as a driver on public roads to know the vehicle you're operating is safe.
Do not listen to the naysayers who are going to say I'm overreacting. They know not what they're talking about. If need be, I am qualified to debate the technical aspects of this problem with anybody on this planet.
By the way, most likely, one of the two wires is shorted to ground.
Good luck....

Is this a Ford vehicle? There was a massive recall a few years ago because the electrical switch for the cruise control cancel located on the brake master cylinder would short out and cause a fire. Ford fixed the problem by designing a fused jumper harness that plugs in between the switch and the vehicle harness. Leave the plug disconnected and have it repaired immediately!

Those wires sense the brake fluid level and turn on the light on your dashboard when it's low.
Obviously you have a short. Unplug the wires from the cap, or at their source so you can put the lid back on the brake fluid reservoir so you can drive your car until you get it repaired.

It is ok to disconnec t the harness from the reservoir, it just indicates low fluid level, you will however have a light that will stay on in the dash/cluster being red or saying brake... please get it checked out, if its smoking there is a short in the wiring or a problem component..

Dont hook the wires back up or else your burn the whole car up,you also have air in the lines from opening the brake reserviour so they will have to be bleed out as well as getting the short repaired.

that's the brake reservoir switch shorting out on it don't connect it back up as long as its off its safe to drive, but don't hook it back up and take it tomorrow to a shop to get this repaired,as long as the wires aren't hooked up their of no danger, disconnect them from the switch though and let a shop deal with it,good luck.
