How to get rid of XLG Privacy Control Center?
Hello,
I am currently writing this from my laptop which is running on Vista Ultimate. My problem is with my desktop which is runnin on XP SP2. The problem is that every time that computer is started a german sounding woman speaks about how my computer is infected somehow and I need to download the antispyware program that the pop up is advertising. The popup says that there are several threats to my computer and to fix it I should buy the full version on their software. Now I know this is malware and the name of it is XLG Privacy Control Center. But the bigger problem is that I can't do anything with the computer, nothing. I can't click out of the popup, the desktop icons won't appear, the start bar won't appear. All I see is the pop up window advertising this disgusting blackmail and my wallpaper. Any suggestions? I would download anti spyware to the desktop, but I can't get past the pop up.
Thanks in advance for your time and effort and any help is welcome. Have a good one!
UPDATE: I am unable to click the start button, it doesn't even show up. I did however get the computer into safe mode under administrator, ran my antivirus and it detected nothing. But the popup didn't show up either. So my assumption is that it isn't in my administrator file. So I went into safe mode under my personal profile and tried to run the virus scan from there. But the malware popup showed up and I couldn't do anything again. So I'm really not sure what to do now. Thanks again for your help and time. Please any help is welcome.

If you have access to your "Start" button at the bottom left, then you're in business. After clicking on it,click the "Run" button. When the box opens, type in "msconfig". When the window opens, click on the "start up" tab. Find this malware and uncheck it. Make sure you click on apply, before clicking okay. Restart your computer. This should take care of your problem.
