Why did Palin compare herself to a pitbull?

Question

The pitbull is known as a vicious animal that attacks without thinking, and will not back down even if it is dying. We have had 8 years of this with Cheney, do we need 8 more? A better dog to compare to would be a supper smart border collie that works hard for its master all the time, and will protect a master until death.

Prior to her acceptance speech at the GOP, I think it was CNN who interviewed her sister up in Alaska. Her sister stated that was one of her nicknames, along with piranha from her sports days in high school. Just one of those nicknames that stuck. The media jumped all over her nicknames before that trying to put her in a derogatory light, as they don't have much on her history to go on. I think they didn't research the history on it, so I think Palin was making a joke about how the media just jumps on a story without finding out the facts before hand.

They are also tenacious and once they get a hold of something they don't let go. And she didn't compare just herself she compared all "hockey moms" to pitbulls.  They didn't seem to mind the comparison. I love the way you made the jump from pitbull to Cheney.

Its a figure of speech. A woman in business that is powerfull is known as a 'pitbull in a skirt'.

I know it couldn't be looks and it couldn't be brain power.  Smell is out.  Dogs don't have 9 lives.  She doesn't have a tail to wag.  I know maybe her hair sheds?  Maybe she rolls over on command? i better stop i do not want my answer deleted lmao
