Will Global Warming lead to an ice age?

Update:

It appears that ice and GW will have the same deleterious effect on crop production. How bizarre.

If an ice age is coming it will have nothing to do with global warming.

It may have a lot to do with the energy cycles of the sun, however.

Many people that have talked about global warming for all these years are already talking about an ice age. Yes, they will try and convince you that global warming can cause global cooling.

Yes, it is possible to have an ice age because of global warming. Because we pollute so much of our air, that it soon turns to the sun and turns into heat melting all the ice in the Artic. Which then, comes down and floods everything. And it becomes really cold and freezes eveything.

In quick summary, if enough cold, fresh water coming from the melting polar ice caps and the melting glaciers of Greenland flows into the northern Atlantic, it will shut down the Gulf Stream, which keeps Europe and northeastern North America warm. The worst-case scenario would be a full-blown return of the last ice age - in a period as short as 2 to 3 years from its onset - and the mid-case scenario would be a period like the "little ice age" of a few centuries ago that disrupted worldwide weather patterns leading to extremely harsh winters, droughts, worldwide desertification, crop failures, and wars around the world.

We already know how bad the cold can be. A volcano erupted and put so much material in the air that there was almost no summer.

The peak of this interglacial period was reached thousands of years ago, global temperatures are on the decline, except for the occasional 100 year long bump, which western civilization can be thankful for.

We are in an Ice Age. We are currently in an interglacial period of the present Ice Age and may be moving into a period of glaciation in the next few thousand years.

They were predicting the next ice age in the 70's

If you look on world temperatures - we're about due for one soon.
