Do recruiters earn a commission?

A lot of people on here seem to think that military recruiters earn a commission. Does anybody have any specific examples, or is this just the uninformed saying what they think?

Recruiters do not get a commision. We do however have a minimum quota we are required to meet. The quota is assigned as QIS (Quality in Service) points. 3 points is usually the minimum.

For example a high school senior that schore above a 50 AFQT is worth 1.5 points. A High School Gradute with the same score is worth 2 points.

People that think Recruiters earn some kind of commission don't know what they are talking about. My paycheck was the same wether I recruited zero or five people for the month.

Us Army recruiters receive a Special Incentives Pay of $450 a month while on recruiting duty. They are also eligible to submit for reimbursement of up to $75 a month for expenses such as meals for their applicants on the days they test or join. I really don't like the word "quota". Each recruiter is assigned a mission for that month based on the current needs of the Army and what slots are available to be filled. ONe month they may be on for a mission of 3 (2 who are high school seniors that test as an Alpha an 1 grad Bravo as an example). They have a minimum acceptable performance standard set by US Army Recruiting Command (USAREC). They must meet this or they could face military action for failure to meet the standard or to accomplish the mission. If an Army recruiter exceeds his mission he may receive an additional amount per contract over his mission. Also, if a soldier is recalled to recruiting duty for a 90 day period of TDY after returning to his regular mos, he is paid per contract for those enlistees that actually ship out to basic training. The per contract over mission pay is new and so is the per contract while recalled.

Please keep in mind that the per contract incentive only applies once the minimum mission is accomplished.

Also there are civilian recruiters for the US Army and they are paid a stipend for the first 90 days of employment and then they are paid per contract only.

I cannot speak for the other services.

No they get a SMALL lump sum before they go to recruiters school, that's for the 7 sets of uniforms they have to wear on a daily basis. then they receive money for housing ect. since they usually do not live on base or there isn't a base where they are recruiting

no, they most certainly do not earn commission.

they do however have to meet certain recruiting quotas. which are there to make sure that they are doing their jobs, they don't just trick people into joining so they look good. if you were to ask one i'm sure they'd tell you anything you'd want to know.
