Most insurance only cover 1-2 UNLESS there medically necessary.. Call your insurance.. I have medicaid - [used to have cigna] And I had 2 ultrasounds on cigna and now about to be 5 with medicaid. [My son is big XD] Im pretty sure it SHOULD be covered.

Gee a thousand bucks is a bit much! Normally they will give you a glucose test, blood test, for gestational diabetes. If the 1st ultrasound comes back normal then you shouldn't need another one, sometimes doctors will request another one later on to check placenta and position of the baby. Talk to your doctor or midwife at your next appoint and tell them that you are worried about the cost, sometimes they know a way around insurance.

I dont believe its a thousand bucks. I dont know where you live but I live in one of the most expensive states....California and for my first visit where they performed a ultrasound, blood tests etc it was $350.00. I am 23 weeks and I had 2 ultrasound so far. One on the first visit and a detailed one where they measured evertything to make sure that the baby is developing correctly.

Well I know that my insurance only covers one ultra sound with each pregnancy, unless you are high risk and then they will cover more. So if you are truly high risk then you should be covered for all the ultrasounds they want to do. Also It does not cost 1,000 dollars that is ridicules.

Your mom is full of crap!
Even private ultrasounds are about 100 dollars.
If your doctor says you are high risk, they should be covered.
