Does anyone out there own a Rottweiler?

Any advice about getting a rottweiler puppy? Are they easy to train? Is it best to crate train them? I need a big dog for protection that I will feel safe with, but will be lovable and devoted to my family. Anyone that has one that would like to share their experience?

Rotts are excellent family dogs. Yes, their easy to train. Yes, crate training is a great idea.

But unless you have experience with any breed that will test you every now and then and know how to deal with it, I wouldn't suggest getting one.

They Love "THEIR" people, but also check to make sure your still in control. Not aggressively, but rather with mind games. They are Smart!
