  • Mobile Home Park Restrictions?

I have lived in a mobile home community for 20 years now, and have always wanted a fence for my back yard, and I'm willing to pay for it myself, but the park says "NO FENCES". We live on a corner lot, and have a large double wide. Our neighbors do not abide by the leash law, and leave their dogs run free, and in our yard. Also many of the neighbors children run in our yard as well, and we have two dogs, we tie outside for a brief time, and then let them in. We had to put a dog down due to owners that left their chihuahua run free, and it ran after our Akita, and our dog killed it. The owners got mad at us, and our police in our area told us our dog was in our yard, and not running loose. The neighbors dog was at fault. We ended up putting our dog down anyway due to there were no options left. She would not accept another owner, and we can not afford to move to another house. We did not want to see this occur again, and we can not have a fence, so now we have a mix breed that is only a medium size dog, and our English Bulldog, and the neighbors kids tease them, as well as having the neighborhood children running through our yard. By law, is there anyway we could legally put up a fence in our back yard, as long as we maintain it? What are our options?

  • Indoors, or Outdoors for my Great Pyrenees?

I recently rescued a 2 year old Great Pyrenees dog, and he is very sweet, lovable, walks great on a leash, and is good with children, and other animals. However, he wants to sleep outside at night. I wanted him as an indoor dog, and Im trying to train him to be one, but he does not like to be crated, and chews everything in my house that he can. Im considering seriously to have him as an outdoor dog. What should I do? At this age, if he used to be an outdoor dog with his last owners, can he be retrained to be indoors, or should I just leave him outside, and take him to the park twice as day for exercise as well?

  • Why do people walk their dogs without putting them on a leash?

If you have your dog out for a walk, and your dog is on a leash, and another dog runs up to you, it can be dangerous for you and your dog. Also, my dog is tied when she has to go outside for a brief time. Other people that don't have their dogs on a leash, are taking a chance of having their dog run into your yard with your dog. That can be bad for either dog. In my case it was bad for both our dogs. I have a large Akita that I tie on a strong tie when she needs out. Our yard is her territory, which she protects. The woman walking her chihuahua saw our dog and still walked past our yard without a leash on her dog, while holding onto three other dogs on leashes. So her loose dog ran into our yard, and our dog grabbed it, and killed it. By law in our State, our dog was in our yard and on a tie, their dog was running free, and there is a leash law here. Yes, thats a very sad, bad thing to have happen, but people should have their dog under control at all times, and these occurances don't have to happen. Now my husband and I are considering putting our dog down due to their neglagence. I realize at times dogs can and do get loose, but to deliberatly not leash your dog, when walking by a house with a large dog that is tied out, is asking for trouble. Im sorry for the owners, yes, Im sorry for their dog more so, cause it would'nt of had to happen if they would of prevented it.

  • my computer is running very slow, are their any honest websites that can speed your computer up for a fee?

Im skeptical of some of these sites that claim they can fix your computer that is running slow, and they charge you $19.99 or more. Do they really work, or is it all a scam? If you know of one that is good, please tell me!

  • Anyone out there have an Akita?

I love my Akita, and would like to know who else has one that loves theirs. They are beautiful, and strong, and loves their families, but mine is very cautious around strangers, and some other dogs. I don't know any other akita owners other than my dog's breeder.

  • Does anyone know how soon the new PET airlines will be able to fly to all major cities?

I am excited about the new "Pet Airways", but I don't live near any of those five major cities that they ship to and from. I hear that in the future, they will be expanding. Does anyone know HOW LONG it will take till they expand? My daughter was unable to take with her, her two year old English Bulldog when she moved from Tx. to New York. We love her, and would keep her, but she wants her shipped, and Id like to wait till the new pet airlines expands, so we feel she is safer shipping her that way. Can anyone answer this question?

  • Any Akita lovers out there?

Our Akita now is eleven months old today. We love her so much, and she makes such a great pet and companion. She is close to 100 pounds, and is very affectionate with all of the family. Very good guard dog though. She lets us know when anyone is near. She even adapted to living with our English Bulldog. Anyone else out there that loves Akitas?

  • What a hot summer in Tx.! Anyone's air conditioning unit go out yet?

We were hoping to get through the summer with our air conditioner, at least until the car was paid off in December. No chance. Our temperatures were so high, the AC unit could not handle it any longer. So a whole new unit we had to get, and Im sure many others are having the same problems.

  • Can a 4 month old Akita adapt to sharing a home with a 2 year old English Bulldog?

We just brought home a 4 month old female Akita puppy. She has been very good so far with our cat. He really doesnt seem to bother her. Our English bulldog which is very good natured, but spoiled has been taking fairly well to the Akita, but the Akita is on and off showing some amount of aggression which Im trying to correct. Ive been told they will work it out, which I hope so. If the Akita goes to nip our other dog, I firmly say NO and give her collar a tug. Any suggestions would be very helpful. I never leave them alone, I supervise them at all times, and when I cant the Akita is in a crate.

  • Anyone out there have a Rottweiler?

Im seriously considering getting a rottweiler. I need a dog for protection, but one that is affectionate with the family, and makes a good indoor dog. A dog that likes to go for walks, but is not a very high energy dog. Ive had German Shepherds for the last 25 years, but they have a higher energy level, and need more exercise than just one or two long walks a day. My Shepherd that I have now, is getting old, and I dont know how much longer I will have him. I have a nice size yard, but our community does not allow our yards to be fenced in, so I can tie my dog outside when he has to go or wants out for a little while. My house is fairly large, so he has lots of room inside, but I need a dog that is intimedating. We've had break ins in our neighborhood, and Im home alone with my daughter many nights. Would this be a good breed?

  • what are your rights, if someone broke in your home, and your dog attack them trying to protect you? ?

I am not comfortable having a gun in my home. I would much rather have a large dog to protect me and my possessions. What is a person's rights if someone broke in your home and your dog hurt them, or hurt them trying to save my life?

  • Does anyone agree with me on how important it is to feed your dog organic dog food?

One night I was reading online the horrible ingredients that are in most processed dog foods. My dog was very sick a few months back with a bladder infection and stones in his urine. The vet told me to buy a canned dog food that they sell at the vets and gave me some antibiotics. My dog was so ill he had not ate for four days, and would hardly drink any water until he started taking the antibiotics. It even took three days for him to start acting anywhere near normal. Then after reading about the ingredients that are in most processed dog foods, I changed to organic, and he is doing so well, its like he is the dog he was three years ago. It may cost more to buy the organic food, but it is well worth it, and I would rather put the money into good dog food, than vet bills!
