How much better would the Washington Nationals have been if they would have signed ALFONSO Soriano ?

I think they would have been so much better off.
I think Soriano would have been the catalyst for the Nationals.
I saw how Soriano lit a fire with the Washington Nationals. Fan attendance was up, the fans loved him and went to the stadium in greater numbers. Those fans and all the support they give lit a fire under all the players. It's always nice to have a large fan base coming and cheering you on.
I think he also had a really positive effect on the other players. He got the team psyched up and they all seemed to come forward with their best ball. It is almost like a snowball effect type of thing.
The better he played, the more adrenaline the entire team seemed to have. The Nationals just should have paid him the money he wanted. Yeah...it was a lot...but I think the overall positive effect it would have had on the team would have been worth it.
They always say one player doesn't make a team, but I think sometimes they do, just for what they can offer the other players and the fans. Attendance, up. Overall playing better because the other players get inspired, moral goes up when you are winning.
Since they let him go, fan attendance has dropped and the players lost some of their drive.
But this is just my take on it. I see what he is doing for the Cubbies, and the fans love him.
Our loss was definitely the Cubbies gain. The Cubs were already playing good, he just brought that hope, and his amazing bat.

Probably not all that much better.
Pitching is the biggest problem for the Nationals. They have the 22nd best ERA in the MLB at 4.54.
Certainly Soriano would help any offense but you can never say it enough: Good pitching always beats good hitting.

Well it really changed the aspect of things. They had Soriano as their franchise player and they were going to build everything around him. Well, they lost that player so everything changed, with that being said I really think they would have been a couple years from being a playoff team because they still need pitching, they really lack pitching and some bats.

They probably wouldn't have signed him anyway. Look at their last 1st round pick, Brian Matusz.

Not much cause without pitching, they still would lose
