How do I hook up an electric fan to my car battery?

I live in the New Orleans area and could sure use a fan when the power is out.(like a hurricane).

    As long as it's a dc fan, just connect positive to positive and negative to negative. If it's an ac fan, buy a power inverter and plug it in.

    With an auto battery you should use 12 volt fans. The idea of a power converter just will not work very long, as most batteries can only produce about 300-400 amp hrs of energy and they will go dead.

    Source(s): I once knew a couple who lived in Hawaii and they could not afford electric so when hubby went to work he charged the battery and when he got home he changed them out.
