Will putting more obstetrical in the path of a hurricane will slow it down?

Hurricanes loose strength when going over obstacles. Oil platforms withstand hurricanes. So to save the world from hurricanes we should put more oil platforms in their path. Thus solving several problems at once.

You are welcome, just my way of helping people.

What does obstetrics have to do with hurricanes. Are you an obstetrician? Hurricanes are no longer named only for women, so why would obstetrics be relevant here?

The obstacles people are talking about are Islands and swamps. An Oil Platform wouldn't do a thing to slow a hurricane down or lower its rating. The only other thing that slows or breaks up a hurricane is cold water.

There was a proposal back in the late 60s for a method of using the frozen form of Co2 as an inhibitor and dehumidifier for hurricanes by cooling the hot input of the storm and robbing it of energy. But the democrats in congress fought it down because it used Co2 as its active cooling agent and they have a religious fear of this harmless and useful gas.

During the 80s it was proposed by NASA engineers that the space based anti missile lasers could be used in several ways to steer storms or to weaken them by heating up the cold front side of the storm. Direct cloud seeding with dry ice has also been proposed to dry the storm out while over the ocean and weaken its impact when it hits land. There have been hundreds of ideas proposed to deal with killer storms but they all require high technology and as long as the most powerful democrats are anti technology none of these advanced problem-solving concepts will even be allowed a trial let alone operational evaluation.

Well when they named hurricanes after women only, your question would have been funny.

As long as the obstacles are at least 10,000 feet tall, your plan would work.

Women and children first would have new meaning!

Bad idea, bad question, bad solution.
