I empathize with your periods from hell. You can try Midol or Pamprin, which are made to help with all symptoms of PMS. But, as far as debilitating cramps and heavy bleeding, the best pill you can take for that is birth control. Periods are lighter, shorter, and (at least in my case) rarely, if ever, are accompanied by cramps and headaches. It doesn't matter if you're sexually active or not; if your period is severely interfering with everyday life, birth control can be a godsend.

What you should take instead is Ibprofen. It's the same thing as Midol. It is the best and pretty much only thing that really targets cramps. Make sure to eat something before you take it though or it too might upset your stomach. I take it starting about 2days before I know I'm going to get my period... this is actually recommend by some doctors to prevent bad cramping. Also, if you're that heavy and hurting you may want to start taking a birth control whether you need to for sexual activity reasons or not. Birth control will help regulate your cycle so that it's always at the same time and not so heavy.

I am the same way. However I suggest you seek your doctor to go on birth control. It helps to make your period not so heavy and little to no cramping. Don't take advil or aleeve if it is making you feel sick. Midol doesn't really work for me. I'm not a huge medicine taker so I just try to take it easy and rest as if I was sick. Hope you feel better! Periods are crummy.

avoid aspirin as it has blood thinners in, just regular paracetomol should do it. my doc advised me to take the painkillers the night before i am due on which often worked to control the headaches.
