How did the Americans transfer their planes to England during WW2?

We all know D-day, we all know that US planes have been hitting Nazi butts during WW2. Now, my question is how did the Americans transfer their planes to England during WW2? Since planes at that time can't reach USA to England without stopping.

So, how?

Thanks!
