I have had forced hot water through a baseboard at the bottom of the wall for years.?

And I have put my furniture right in front of it because I have no choice. The baseboard goes all around the room, but now I am hearing that furniture should not be placed in front of a baseboard. Does anyone know if this is true? I have no place else to put my couches unless I put them in the middle of the floor, and that would look stupid. Thanks for your answers.

baseboard heating depends on the flow of room air into the bottom and out the top to circulate the heat. if you cannot keep the furniture somewhere else at least keep it away from the wall about 8 inches.
