Is hurricane evacuation a good enough reason to break my fast?
Straight up, if they say "voluntary evac" on my side of Houston, I'm leaving. Out of curiousity, I wonder if evacuation is a reason for breaking your fast. Inshaallah it will not come to that, and if it does, inshaAllah I will be able to keep the fast. Just wanted some opinions. If YOU were in Ike's path, and were forced to evacuate, would you break your fast, or try to keep it?
Wow, apparently many of you have never been in a hurricane evacuation in 100 degree heat backed up for 100s of miles for 20+ hours. Evacuating is not running across town, it's running across the state. If I do evacuate, it would probably be at night anyway and I said I plan to keep my fast inshaAllah, why so hostile? Where's the brotherly love and support? People ask silly questions about falling in love with non-Muslims at a party and describe the user above and below you, I ask a simple question about an out of the ordinary situation and I get all this?
What's this YOU PEOPLE? I do not break my fast for silly reasons and I understand and respect Ramadhan and Islam very well.
Go ahead and report my question and get it deleted, this place SUCKS and I am ashamed that i waste my time here. It's the most demoralizing site for a Muslim to visit.

i know what you mean... this place does suck!
well i guess if u need strength to evacuate to another state for the sake of your safety then i'd say break it...
if you you have to drive fast to evacuate yourself from the troublesome hurricane i would say again break it. as panic + empty stomach doesnt sound good. you just might colapse with the stress and that might be it... you're gone.
but if the evacuation is taken carefully and under control then i guess you could try to keep the fast and make sure u have a wrist watch and Dates in your pocket and a bottle of water to break your fast.
thats what i would do if i was in such situation,.

I am not Muslim, but I wish to say that I certainly do think its a good reason to break your fast. No matter whose God, by definition God is loving and understanding of the human condition. I do not think God will hold a grudge against you for breaking your fast to save your life. I think God or Allah will be compassionate of your situation (at least I hope so!)
I heard from a Muslim person that if you cannot hold your fast, in lieu you should feed orphans (or something to that nature), so perhaps there is a way for you to honor God while at the same time keeping yourself and your loved ones safe. Ultimately, I think it is for you to decide what is right for you :)
And pay no mind to the insensitive things people say on YA. In the end, you are accountable only to your own reason and conscience. Take care with hurricane Ike and be safe!

A hurricane is just an outward storm just as there are inward storms. Would you break fast if you were troubled within but still safe at home?
