I keep finding my dogs toenails around the house but when I count they are all there.?

Three times I have found a whole toenail in my house. Each time I find one I go count all the nails on all of my dog's paws and each one in the front has all 5 and both the ones in the back have all 4. How is it possible that the toenails are falling off but are always intact when I check? I feel like I'm hallucinating??????

This has never happened before. My dog is 1.5 years old and isn't acting strange or like she is in pain. She seems perfectly fine.

Update:

Now that I think about it, maybe her nails are just too long and the pieces I find just look like a whole nail because her nails are just ridiculously long. Sorry for the stupid question!!!

He could be chewing on them. You'd find the bits, but he'd still have his nails.

maybe they need a good clipping.

When dogs names aren't trimmed properly they start to break off very easy.

not a stupid question...many people dont know dogs will actually shed lots of nails...more than you would know..most of the time its outside but if you have carpet it really chips them right off.
