Analogous colours - two beside each other on the wheel.

Complemetary colours - two directly opposite each other on the wheel. They mix to make dark grey/black/brown (i.e a dark neutral colour).

Split complementary - the colour beside the complementary of a colour (i.e. analogous colour of a complementary).

Triad - any three colours equally spaced around the wheel.

Monochromatic - colour scheme using only mixtures of one colour with black and white or on their own (unmixed).

Accented neutral - a colour scheme with mostly a lighter neutral colours and a little of a dark colour to stand out. (A neutral is a colour which is dull and greyish - i.e. lacks colour.) Might also be a mostly dark neutrals with a lighter colour. the accent colour doesn't becessarily have to be a pure colour on the wheel - e.g. could be black.

(The 6 main colours on the wheel are: Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple/Violet, Red, Orange in that order going clockwise. You also have colours in-between these, e.g. yellow-orange, green-blue.)

    So the answers would be:

    1. Probably C, since violet and yellow are complementaries and they mix to make grey/neutral. Perhaps X, since together the three colours don't have any of the relationships in the list of choices.

    2. The first two are analogous, but there should not be more than two. Don't understand the "bl... white" part. Perhaps it is T, but a triad would not include white. Could be X

    3. Must be M - uses only blue, white and black or mixtures of these. Could be AN, if an accented neutral can also be a lot of dark neutral with a little light colour contrasting with it.

These questions are a little ambiguous. I hate it when teachers do this! It doesn't help you to learn the theory being tested. One ambiguity is that the questions don't specify whether the colours are mixed or alone. Another is that they could fit more than one choice.

Maybe if you give your reasons for your choices and possible alternatives, the teacher will mark you accordingly. At least it will be showing you understand the theory - which is more important than guessing the right answers.

i am going to assume that these colors are not mixed together and are standing alone as individual colors

1.X- i can't find where these combinations would be any of the choices...violet,grey,yellow

2.A- they sit next to each other on the wheel...red-orange,yellow-orange,bl... white

3.AN-using a neutral color (beige, white or gray) and accenting with another color from the color wheel (in this instance blues) a little gray,a lot of dark blue,a little white, some light blue
