by the time a ps4 comes out do you think any one will care about backwards compatibility with ps2 games?

it's kinda goes either way. for me, i wouldn't except a ps4 without BC. well not literaly but still. i love ps1, 2, and 3 games. and i don't want to loose any one of them. the classics are better than todays games and to loose them would be terrible. there are plenty of old classic ps2 games that i have yet to explore. just because were in another generation of video games doesn't mean we should turn our back to them.

but on the other hand. more and more people won't care. the people who grew up with ps1/ps2 games most likely will always want BC, because they like there classic games. but every generation a new wave a gamers emerge. these gamers didn't grow up with the ps2, so they don't care, because they have no idea what there missing. those are the people that wont care.

It would be easier by then to do backwards compatibility of ps2 games solely on software emulation. Unlike to day. And there is an almost 100% chance that it will not be able to play ps3 games due to the complexity and power of the ps3(the difference between the ps3 and ps4 is likely to be a lot smaller than the difference between the ps2 and ps2)

The PS2 will be long gone by the time the PS4 comes out. Maybe not for PS3 backwards compatibility.

I know I will!! Like right now, I want to buy a ps3 with backwards compatibility, and I can't find one!!!! It's so unfare from sony to do us that. I hope the ps4 can play games from all playstation versions. Right now I don't want to buy a ps3 that has no bw compatibility, because I bought some ps2 games and I planned to buy a ps3 in the future (that was las year), and now I can't find one. They offer so many different versions, like microsoft, instead of focusing on what WE, the players, the ones who pay them, want.

It's not going to be that big of a deal to most people, since most people that can afford a PS4 won't care about their older games as much. Although, there will always be a few die-hard fans of the classics, even from the PS1 era like Final Fantasy VII.

It's fact that people like to keep their favorite game from out dated consoles. The hardware just doesn't stand the test of time some times and It's a pain having to buy multiple old school consoles that take up space and what not... I love re playing some of my nes games, but would rather play them on my psp or modded xbox since it's just one less system out on the table.

Anyways thats just nes. PS2 has some of the best games EVER. And it's fact that people will play them for decades to come. (At least I know I will)

Indeed I will! The reason I bought my PS2 was because I'd be able to play all the previous games with it. When I can afford the PS3 I'd like to be able to know that all the games I buy will be usable with the next version as well.

I will, and I will care about backwards compatibility with PS1 games as well. Those 2 systems have some of the best games of the last decade.

It won't trouble anybody: The PS4 is about to be out in approximately 10-15 years. Don't care.
