Does anybody else dislike the current Pope?

This guy, Pope Benedict, is way too conservative. At least John Paul II saw the validity in others, made an effort to have dialogue with Muslims, Buddhists, meanwhile Benedict just feels the need to crusade all over again (in a non-violent way, but still).

How about you (Catholics can probably answer this better than anyone else), what's your take on this Pope the Catholic Church's got right now?

Update:

Donna- I couldn't agree with you more, but there have been some good ones (I'm a former Catholic), like John Paul II and John XXIII, they weren't too bad.

Update 2:

Lol @ Grobit's answer! = ) (I like the Episcopalians btw)

I just think he looks a tad bit creepy lol

All i will say is, there was something about John Paul II that just automatically made him more likeable, he was very loved by many- that is the difference i see in the two...

*I know this might be alittle weird, but i consider myself Catholic to a certain extent, i don't fully agree w/ all the beliefs of the church.

I'm very open to all types of people & other religions out there as well.

Yes, and I am so sorry that John Paul II could not accomplish that dialogs he started with other religions. He started to fight that machinery too late and being too old. I am the catholic in evidence and partly in heart - not in brain that much. The real catholics - those who I admire are dying out /the same as real muslims etc... good people/. This pope is the one that I somehow dislike. I expect him to be strict in this world - this is OK, but I also want him to be strict to the pedophile priests and be strictly logical about the celibacy for example. Otherwise I cant take him seriously. He looks being orthodox - mason ?- who cares, for me orthodoxy means to be stuck in rut and that's why dangerous or useless.

John Paul II endorsed Benedict long before his death. Keep in mind JP II was also a conservative that was slowly taking apart the Vatican II reforms.

He is someone who I deeply love, respect and obey. He is the Human Head of my faith and successor of St.Peter and it is about time someone started standing for the Church instead of changing the Church to comply with modern times. Faith doesn't change, if it does it is false.

Pope John Paul II I deeply loved as well, I am glad Pope Benedict XVI is bringing back some of the Sacred Traditions lost to Vatican II like the Tridentine Mass. I truly feel this Man is great and holy and I for one stand behind the Holy Father, that is what Christ asked us to do before He ascended into Heaven, and regardless of who is the Pope I will always obey my Lord and Savior and follow the one He through His Holy Ghost placed as Head of His Church.

All honor and glory to Jesus Christ our Redeemer, by His Holy Cross He has redeemed the world!

Pray the Rosary and receive the Sacraments for the Glory of God in the Highest!

I'm Catholic, although I don't really practice. Anyway, Benedict creeps me out, he looks scary! I agree that he is way too conservative. I understand that Catholicism is very conservative, but times change and some things just aren't very realistic. I liked John Paul so much better.

But then you didn't like the Pope at all. Because he really loved the current Pope. Look it up !! I am not kidding !! He wanted to be suceeded by him !!!!

But what you don't understand is what a Pope is. And I won't explain, because you wouldn't accept it. But your idea that he should never contradict you personally is very un-Christian. In fact Jesus contradicted St Peter. This is all true and you can find it in the Bible. But I'm not going to tax your credulity. Many of your readers know I'm dead on.

Benedict XVI creeps me out. I'm Episcopalian by the way. The Catholic Church is stuck in the 1300s. Even most American Catholics don't follow all of their teachings. I'm sure quite a bit of them use contraception.

I don't dislike him. I don't know much about him. He is not as charming as the previous Pope. He also added an Easter prayer to pray for the conversion of Jews. I didn't like that but then I am Jewish so I guess its not up to me to judge Catholic prayer.

It will be interesting to see Catholic responses to this.

The Pope doesn't like me, I don't care. Islam doesn't like me, I don't care.

    Darla S doesn't like me, I really don't give a fig.

And some Christians have been more outspoken than her.

Dislike him? Not quite, but I had a notch or two more respect for the previous one.

Now ask me about the Archbishop of Canterbury.
