Why won't youtube work?
I keep getting an error message saying I have Javascript turned off or an old version of Adobe flash player. When I try and download the new version, it still won't work. It used to work on my lap top but doesn't now. I am using Vista.

I've had the exact same problem in the recent past. Luckily with trial and error, i fixed it. On my PC i had an extension of Firefox installed that block JAVA scripts from turning on when web pages are visited unless I allow those websites to show their JAVA scripts content. The extension I used is called NoScripts. Everytme I visited youtube i got the exact same message in the box where the video starts. So I just configured the NoScripts extension to allow JAVA content from YOUTUBE.
The reason why youtube isn't working for you isn't cuz you don't have the latest version of JAVA, it's cuz your browser is block the JAVA script from initiallizing for security reasons.
If you also use a similar browser extension on Firefox (or whatever browser) turn off the extension or in your browser try to find the option of allowing all JAVA content..you didn't mention which browser you used. Regardless, the solution is the same...allow java scripts to run on the websites you visit through your current browser.
I'm sorry for the vague answer..so was your question :P
Try giving more details like what kinda browser you use or what kinda extension you've got installed.
Hope this helps...cuz God knows I tried lol :D

javascript is usually turned on by default...so, it might be your flash player is outdated..
you can try a different browser...
these will help you...
1. Use Opera browser, it will load faster and smoother, and re-install latest flash (the correct way)
get the latest flash player, and install it.. make sure all the browsers are NOT running during installation... this is the right way to install the flash player.
by the way, the javascript is turned on by default.
OR..
2. It could be due to slow connection or high traffic.
Try watching it during off peak hours, the video will be smoother.
Or you could watch it offline smoothly... try using 'zillatube' .
It works well - Just google search "zillatube" to get it.
