Ferret makes hissing noises?
Sometimes, like, when my ferret grabs toys or is playing or anything else, she'll randomly make a hissing noise, or like you know, when you breathe in strongly, its like..between deep breathe and a hissing sound..
Is that normal?

It is only her telling you she is enjoying the game but back up a lil your invading her space my Clyde and Sylvett do it all the time especially when they do their War Dance which is them having fun and acting crazy by twisting and twirling and going toward you and backing up and dooking I get a kick out of my 7 doing their War Dance or Weasel Dance as some call it

Hissing- A hissing ferret can be an unhappy or angry ferret. Always use caution in trying to pick up a ferret who is backing away and hissing. You could get bitten. Ferrets usually hiss to show fear or anger. However, ferrets can sometimes hiss when engaging in play with one another. If your ferret hisses while displaying an arched back and "bristled" fur, just speak softly to your ferret and leave your ferret alone. He or she is not a happy ferret and could bite. Only pick up your ferret after he or she has calmed down.

It's normal. I have two that seem to hiss a lot - the one is usually hissing at one of my cats, the other is always hissing about something. Mine usually only do it when annoyed (like if one of the other ferrets is tormenting them and won't back off or they sometimes hiss at the cats because the cats have a thing for swatting at them). Zoey (she's my smallest but has the biggest attitude of the bunch)always hisses at me when she's trying to hide one of her "stash" toys and I go near her. I don't even have to touch her or the toy, just going near her is enough to make her hiss, she'll do it to the other ferrets, too. Some say their ferrets hiss when they're having fun and playing, but, like I said, mine only do it when annoyed with something or someone.

I have had ferrets since I was a little kid. That is there warning hiss. It is like a dog growling. It is best to leave them alone during this time. Their teeth are very sharp, I know. Many of times it is after you have given it food that it likes. Usually, younger ferrets make this noise more because they are more jealous or protective of their thing. You know when a dog growls sometimes when he is playful. Ferrets are a lot like dogs but such much more exciting.

Like everyone else said.. its very normal They do it for all different reasons. When they are excited they dook and hiss and when they want you to back off they will hiss. and also when they are afraid.

Yes it is normal,
It's kinda of a warning. she is saying back off it's mine. Babies do it more than adults especially with food and sometimes they will bark like a squirrel. Don't get ur fingers around the mouth when they do that, they might bite. They also wag there tails to.

it is definitely normal. in fact if they didn't do that than it means they aren't having fun. it is just like when dogs wag their tails. it means they're happy. mine does it all the time. i have researched it a lot. Ferret luvr forever!!!!!!!
