Disney World Fun For Adults: Must See Attractions?
My boyfriend and I, both in our early 30s, just booked our fall trip to Disney World. He's never been there before. I have been there three other times but the last time was 11 years ago so I am sure things have changed. We are staying on property and have the 6 day park hopper tickets. There is so much to do but I want to make sure we experience the best of the best. Is there any must see attractions? Obviously the Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, The World Showcase and The Great Movie Ride are at the top of my list. What else? We want to build our daily schedules around the attractions we *must* see.
Also what restaurants should we consider trying? Neither of us are picky eaters and will eat virtually any kind of food. We prefer the full service restaurants for dinner but will be okay with fast cafeteria style dining for lunch.
Thanks for any recommendations.

Here are our "must do's" for each park
MAGIC KINGDOM
Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, It's a Small World, Monster's Inc, Laugh Floor and Wishes the fireworks show
EPCOT
Living with the Land, Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Soarin', Mission: Mars, Turtle Talk with Crush and in the World Showcase the Chinese acrobats, Mexico boat ride (kinda lame now that it is redone... they took the "ethnicity" out of it) and the Norway boat ride. Don't miss the French patisserie (pastry shop) mmmm.... and Illumination fireworks/laser show.
MGM (HOLLYWOOD)
Tower of Terror, Rock'n Roller Coaster, The Great Movie Ride, Lights Motors Action Extreme Stunt Show. Fantasmic is ok, but not the greatest.
ANIMAL KINGDOM
In my opinion (and everyone is entitled to one) Animal Kingdom isn't worth it. Waay too much walking for the little there is to do there. We saw 0 animals and waited in line for 3 hours for Kali River Rapids... which was slow moving and we didn't get a drop of water on us.
If you intend to eat out everyday here is a link to menus at all the WDW restaurants and their prices. http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm I recommend sitting down and planning out a "meal itinerary" we do each time we go, and it is NEVER worth it for us to buy a Dining Plan. We just do not eat that much in food a day.
While we are on that topic, the Cabins at Fort Wilderness have a full kitchen, and most of the Deluxe and Moderate priced resorts have a mini-fridge in them. You can rent one for about $10 a day if your room doesn't or if you are in a Value Resort. We bring water in with us, and bring gallons of water from home... when we were last there in May '07 a gallon of drinking water was $2.50. Ridiculous, so, bring water bottles with you and refill from fountains, or bring a gallon of water (if you drive, we do) with you to refill. The fountain water is icky, we add Kool-Aid single serving pouches to our refilled with fountain water bottles to cover up the taste.
Hope this all helps, any more ?'s please feel free to e-mail

okay so to add on to other peoples, I'm going in Nov. and this year I decided to go with the DELUXE DINING (not the regular dining). The regular dining plan is 1 counter service and 1 full service a day, very boring for adults great for kids. The Deluxe on the other hand is amazing. You have 3 points a day and any full service restaurant is a point (Signature are 2 points) but its great because you can have a nice big breakfast and then go to a signature restaurant for dinner. You should make your reservations ASAP though because these reservations go fast. Many good restaurants include: California Grill (2pts), Artist's Pointe (2pts.), The Brown Derby (1 pt I think), 50's diner. The headliners at Disney are Soarin' (amazing), expedition everest, rockin rollercoaster, tower of terror, and the mountains. A book I recommend is "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World", I believe they even have a "For Adults" edition. This guide was my saving grace my first time to Disney, and even comes with mapped out touring plans that I found to work exceptionally well. The most important part of going as an adult is to relax and have fun, watch the fireworks, see the shows, kiss in France, etc. Have a magical time!

You have to go with the flow. Have a scheduled meal or event or two, but DON'T overplan as you are tempted to do. Things you love about Disney, they might not. Things that are not your favorites, might be their favorites. I know you feel like planning every last detail; that is very typical since you are the expert. But that is exactly what you can't do. Pick out a couple of things for the group to do together that you think they will all enjoy. Then beyond that, let people break up if they want. If you want to go do Fantasyland and can't get them into it, just say that is where you are going, and if anybody wants to go elsewhere, I'll meet everyone later at this place at this time. Give people a chance to discover the magic for themselves. You can't try to force what you find the best on them. If somebody is just not in the mood and wants to stay at the hotel and lounge around the pool all day, don't take it personal. It is their vacation, too. You need to enjoy yourself and let them enjoy themselves. Everybody has fun in a different way. So don't get hurt if they don't like what you like. Chances are there will be at least one thing that you just love that nobody else likes, or maybe they like it ok but don't love it like you do. That's what is so great about Disney, as you know - something for everybody.

Everyone already mentioned Soarin' ,but don't forget the Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios and Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom.
A new restaurant is opening in Mid-October called T-Rex. It's at Downtown Disney.
And if you want to check out something else, La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil is also at Downtown Disney
I don't know when you are going but if you are there for the Food and Wine Fest.in Epcot, I'd take the time to check it out.
Have fun!

You have a nice amount of park time planned and should be able to ride all the rides you want. Others have posted lots of good ones. Don't plan on "hopping" too much. It is very time consuming. Don't miss Fantasmic at Disney Studios and the animation class is fun there too (in the animation building).
I know it is closing sometime this fall, but my favorite grown-up fun is the Adventurers Club in Downtown Disney. Jellyrolls at the boardwalk (near Epcot) is fun too (dueling piano bar). There is also a new-ish Irish restaurant/bar Downtown Disney with live music - can't remember the name, but we had a great time there too.
Go to Epcot hungry. We usually do one day of snacking on counter service at many countries (and my husband attempts a beer in every country). Pastry, fruit, coffee in France for breakfast, Pretzal in Germany for a snack, fish & chips in England for lunch, etc. Another day, we do a sit down lunch or dinner - we love Mexico (pretty scenery) and Germany (live music/beirgarten). Morocco is good too (live music/belly dancers). The other parks are OK for sit-down food (MK-Tony's, DHS-Prime Time Cafe is fun-just don't put your elbows on the table). If you get a chance, I highly recommend Boma's at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Hotel. It is a yummy buffet full of African inspired foods. The hotel is fabulous to walk around too. Make sure to have a dole whip in MK (Adventureland).
I could go on and on . . . there are some great boards you could check out (disboards.com for one). Have fun!

Get the Disney Dining Plan to save big bucks on food.
The Magic Kingdom is a dump for adults. I suggest that you skip it entirely. Must see? At Disney World? The Cirque show is the only thing that comes to mind. Check it out at Downtown Disney. While you're at Downtown Disney you can see free music at House of Blues on the patio or after 10:00PM in the kitchen. The music hall has national touring acts. Check the HOB website for speicifics.
The Norway section of EPCOT is neat because you can hunt for the trolls and it has a decent ride. The boat ride through the giant fruit and vegetables is also kind of neat at EPCOT. I can't remember what it's called. Other than these two things EPCOT is dump. The Liberty Singers are decent if you appreciate the finer points of a capela singing.
Take the time and go to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Animal Kingdom is the biggest joke of a zoo on the entire planet. Universal Studios Islands of Adventure and Sea World are the two best theme parks in Orlando.
Drive up to International Drive and visit Festival Bay Mall. There's a bar there called Cricketer's Arms. Go on Friday night at about 9:30PM and see Jeff Howell perform.

Don't miss Soarin at Epcot and Expidition Everest at the Animal Kingdom. The stunt driver spectacular is worth seeing and I just love the parades and the street performers at MGM (now Hollywood) and the entertainers near England at the World showcase. I'd skip the Nemo ride and do test track.
I love the pastries at the French pavilion.
Have fun - great time to go!

in my opinion animal kingdom is kinda boring.... epcot is awesome.. you must must must must ride soarin.... it is soo awesome.. it was my favorite ride and i rode it like 6 times.
get there early when the parks open i mean like 45min to an hour and be waiting in line when the ropes drops it gets really really busy and even getting there 15 min early you are still in the back. also at epcot i highly suggest the spaceship earth ride it takes you up into the epcot dome,, some people think it is boring but it is relaxing and you might want to ride that to unwind at the end of your day.
so to recap.. soarin and spaceship earth at epcot.. be aware of mission space at epcot i have read tons and tons of reviews saying that after people ride it they feel soo sick for the rest of the day... you might want to consider the milder version or just avoid it all together. you dont want to ruin your day . and go to norway at epcot and ride the indoor boat ride maelstrom its pretty cool. and dont forget the crepe stand outside of france.. very yummy!!!!! and epcot has the largest disney store in the world.. so bring plenty of money and do your shopping there.. i think its called mouse ears.. something like that.. it has everything you can think of !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its huge!!!!
as far as magic kingdom definetely pirates and big thunder mountain.. also peter pans flight is cool and stitchs great escape. a small world is a little boring but relaxing.. hehehe

Caitlin--see the thumbnail on this page for WDW rides and attractions ranked by age groups. You want to focus on the right side...and there on the underlined rides! http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-first-fami...
See also one of the sample itineraries you can link to from this page--the dates won't precisely match, but you can see an approach there to things other than rides, and dining. http://yourfirstvisit.net/planning-your-first-fami...
