Men in my life really confused?
So I got into a little debate with a friend (male) of mine about how we want to raise our children when we finally have them. I expressed how I will do whatever I have to to raise all my children exactly the same male or female because my father has many double standards here at home that my sister and I have had to tolerate throughout our lives. Anyway, my friend said that "you have to raise girls different then you raise boys" and I disagree completely. Actually that comment made me feel like he thinks he is superior to me just because he has a cock.. even though he and I went to the same schools and I actually have a better GPA then he does. I feel like all the men around me feel like no matter what accomplishments the women around may have they are less important because they're the wrong sex. Is it wrong of me to think that THEY are inferior for having such stupid ways of thinking??
Sorry Ann, I didnt really explain what he was referring to with is comment. He meant it like girls should be at home all the time and not trusted out in the world while boys should be able to do whatever they want... so stupid.

Your father sure did you a disservice. Now you think all men have his mentality. Hopefully what your friend meant was, "You will discover that little boys and girls are, in fact, different in their behaviors. A parent will recognize these differences while realizing it isn't about inferior or superior. That won't even be a consideration in child-rearing."
Another possibility is that your friend is arrogant but not in terms of male-female. He may be arrogant toward everyone.

Well, you definitely shouldn't feel inferior! We all know that the males are the inferior of the species, we just allow them to feel superior!
However, as a parent, I agree that you raise boys and girls differently. This does not mean that I wouldn't allow my son to play with dolls, or my daughter to ride motorbikes. It's a matter of girls learn differently than boys, and are harder headed! I wouldn't set double standards when it comes to drinking, sex and drugs and other pertinent issues. But I would go about teaching them differently!
