    For this you need to have the section configuration, ie shape, thickness of each element of cross section etc., You can have the 'steel tables' which provides all these details.

    you can have cross section area, weight per meter etc for the standard rolled steel sections / bars / flats/ hollow section etc. from the standard steel tables of your country.

    we know

    weight/meter (in kg) = cross sectional area in m^2 * 7860

    and download required zip files, unzip into excel worksheet and get the data you want.
