Who is Better than Anderson Silva?
I've watched every single one of this guy's fights, and he is by far the best fighter pound for pound. I know the question comes to mind that if he fought a larger opponent there might be difficulties, but I really don't see him losing to anyone. What really pisses me off, is the fact that not a lot of people like him. He still gets boos after his fights, and he needs to get more respect from fans in my opinion. Any input out there from MMA fans, what is next for this guy? Personally I'd like to see him fight GSP. George St. Pierre is in the welterweight division however he could be the only person that would give him a challenge. Still GSP would be a serious underdog in the fight. Anyway lets see what you guys have to say.

I wouldn't say best pound for pound. I would put him at number 2.
Fedor still is more well rounded, has won in more ways and has never been submitted or knocked out. Silva has been tapped out twice.
Keep in mind that was a few years ago. Regardless he hasn't fought any quality submission or ground guys yet either. (Mind you there really isn't any in his weight division).
The dude is one of the best technical strikers, and clearly one of the most accurate I have ever seen. He has solid groundgame and is easily able to vie for the top spot.
Just hard to give it to him over Fedor, who has fought more top 10 people and won, who has more fights, and has won in a variety of different ways.. including overcoming adversity during a fight.
I think a Silva vs. GSP would lead to GSP getting KTFO'd. GSP hasn't shown the chin needed to hang with him, his wrestling would help, but I don't see him finishing Silva who is too explosive.
But all this is conjecture and personal opinion. I wouldn't fault anyone for putting Anderson Silva at the top that is for sure, it is pretty close.
My vote would be Fedor, then Silva. But I can easily see putting Silva at the top as well...

The only person that i see giving Silva trouble is Paulo Filho. I believe he is the current WEC champion. Filho is the #2 ranked middleweight in the world, and many believe that he would have the chance to knock off Silva. The only problem is that the two commonly train together and have basically agreed to never fight each other.
This leaves GSP. This would be an interesting fight. If it is fought at welterweight (dont argue this, Silva actually has fought at welterweight outside of the UFC), i give St.Pierre a slight advantage. However, if the fight is at middleweight, I give Silva a huge edge due to his size. If GSP manages to fight off Penn and Silva pounds Cote in their next matchups, we may well see this fight.

Pound for pound yes, he is the best fighter in the world. I highly doubt if he fought Fedor w/ no weight class he'd win. GSP would get worked by Silva. A good match would be Urijah Faber or BJ Penn pound for pound. There were talks a while back that Silva was talking smack about Roy Jones Jr. Roy Jones said he had no problem fighting him in a boxing match but that Dana White was protecting him. In a boxing match vs. Jones??? I'd have to go w/ Roy Jones... Now that would be a great match. Maybe Golden Boy & Affliction can steal Silva and make this dream fight happen.

Yeah it is kind of weird that he gets no love. I notice all the time people dissin him. Though I have never heard the boos during his post fight speech, but it makes sense that close minded MMA fans cant accept the fact that he is a class guy and one of the best fighters ever to boot. To be honest 9 times out of 10 I dont care what the guy has to say after the fight anyway. Their minds are so gone from the physical battle that had occured that they usually do a bad job of "talking us through the action" and just end up telling us where their after party is. So with that in mind, why would I care if anderson silva needs a translator. To answer the question, it would be a tough matchup for him to move up to elite heavyweight fighters like Fedor, but with that said, no one is better in middleweight or light heavyweight than anderson silva. period. (or welterweight) Not GSP, not Cote, not Evans, Griffin, Rampage, Lidell, Wanderlei...none of them are better than anderson silva.

Anderson is #2 pound for pound in the world to Fedor. I would like to see Anderson and GSP but GSP would get murdered in that fight. Anderson is way too big for him and a much better striker. Anderson is so good right now he should be the champ at 205 along with his 185 title. There is one fighter in the UFC that can beat Anderson but that is pending on how he comes back from surgery and thats Shogun Hua.

Anderson Silva is not the best fighter in MMA.
Look at his fights, mismatches, with the expection of Dan Henderson.
But I truly believe Dan laid down in the fight.
The 1st all Dan,
The 2nd Dan gave him his back, with 3 minutes and Silva did not take it until 10 seconds to go
GSP? Very good athletecism. But not the best.
Fedor? What can you say? The guy has fought most of the Top Heavyweights and has been victorious.
I'd like to see Anderson Silva in the 205 division, where he doesn't have an advantage over smaller fighters.
Silva vs. Lyota?
Silva vs. Wanderlei?
Silva vs. Chuck Liddel?
Silva vs. Dan Henderson II
Silva vs. Silva?
Silva vs. Quinton
Silva vs. BJ Penn (in lightweight)
And with the mention of BJ Penn, I think BJ Penn is the #1 guy pound for pound in the UFC,
But for all MMA "F E D O R"
And I hope in late 2009 we'll see the UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Fedor for the WMMA Title

As far as skill goes, I think A Silva is one of the best if not the best. If he were to move up and fight some of the elite LHW (Rampage, W. Silva, Liddell, Forrest, etc) I could see him getting beat. I could also see him winning all those fights too, though. It would be foolish to bet against Silva, that's for sure.

I don't think there is anyone better than Anderson right now, definitely not at middleweight.
GSP would probably beat him, but that is because its a terrible style match up for Anderson, not because GSP is "better".

I agree with you 100%. no one is better than Anderson Silva. It kind of bothers me too that someone who so masterfully picks apart his opponents still gets booed. Truth is a lot of the MMA community is like this culty sect of people who chant USA USA, call themselves "rednecks" and shoot moose. I was at his last fight and seemingly they boo him because he doesn't speak english (well at least) and he's not a comedial crossover like Rampage, but they replaced boos with laughs.

I wonder why the UFC only mentions his DQ loss to Okami. They don't mention he's been sub'd twice in Pride. Hendo can still beat him if he doesn't get foolish and try to trade with him. Matt Lindland maybe. Hell, Lutter had a shot if he could go beyond one round without gassing.
