Who else thinks the production Chevrolet Volt is Ugly?
I am not talking about the concept Volt, but the production version. I was so looking forward to buying the Volt if it looked like the concept. The high waist line and low roof line made the concept car look HOT. Now it looks just like a typical import. No style!

It's awful. I would have seriously considered one if it looked similar to the concept car. Not now. I think they deliberately made it ugly so that it wouldn't sell. I live in an area where electricity is about a nickel per KWH, so it woiudl have cost me about 10 cents a fillup.
GM just drives me crazy.

Typical GM "design by committee". Looks like the Saturn Aura. If they made it look like the Sky, they might get $40,000. They need to sell it as a weekend car, not a commuter or a family vehicle. They can make a fun to drive, peppy two seater and work out the bugs. Everyday use by 3-4 people as a commuter car is going to destroy the battery and the electric motor well before 100,000 miles. No one will ever buy a GM product again if that happens.

I'm not impressed at all. While they say it's aero I don't see the things that would make it more aero.
To be honest this should be a distinctive looking vehicle or at least something similar to the Vibe/Matrix.
Sadly they are making it in steel instead of composites and Li-ion instead of lead batteries.
I've done a 2 seat EV/ sometimes hybrid that gets 100mile range at about 400mpg cost equivalent for fuel. It gets that because it's both aero and lightweight while still very crash worthy. And if put into production would only cost about $15k. If I can do that why can't Detroit?

I agree that the concept version is much better, but, I still think it looks good (just not great like the concept).

It doesn't look anything like a "typical import." What it does look like is an aerodynamic vehicle. It just so happens that some imported cars, like the Prius and Insight, are also designed with an emphasis on efficiency.
