As for the puffy appearance of McCain's left jaw, Dr. Michael Hinni of Mayo said that it did not signal a return of melanoma, but rather was the remnant of the extensive operation to remove the melanoma in 2000. "To be clear, the swelling is not due to any evidence of cancer," he said.

The puffiness is the result of the removal of soft tissues surrounding the tumor in front of the left ear. "That makes the masseter, the chewing muscle, over the jaw appear more prominent," Hinni said.

Hey Mirriam, looks like you got the wrong Andy.T, (there is actually another one) you are right we should know if he has cancer, I don't think that anyone in their right mind would be running for office of President if he or she was actually dying of it, my annoyance is the horrible scathing way this question is being phrased, if the questioner was five years old then you could excuse it, but as this is unlikely then I think that infantile moron seems to be the best description I can give to someone who would describe his facial disfigurement this way just because they hate the fact that he may be the next President.

I thought it was a side effect of cancer treatment or the cancer itself.

I believe it is because of a broken jaw he suffered from as a POW.

Unfortunately he had cancer.
