Pain & Discomfort at 37 weeks?
I'm 37 weeks pregnant, my next appointment is friday. I've been experiencing Menstrual like cramps and a low dull backache, belly pains, and sharp vaginal pains for the past couple weeks, for the past two days it;s been much worse, now I feel the vaginal pains no matter what I'm doing, whereas at first I first only felt it if I was walking. The back ache is now constant, I can't lay down, and the cramps are more intense. WHat could this be? I'm not having contractions... so it couldn't be oncoming labor.. could it?

I'm 36 weeks, 5 days pregnant right now (37 weeks on Friday). I'm basically feeling the same way you are. My back has been killing me for the last few months, but recently I've been having more constant back pain, and even sharp pains in my lower back. I found out from my doc that the sharpness is Braxton-Hicks contractions. The vaginal pain comes and goes - I feel like I get it a lot worse if I have to pee, but there are times where the sharp pain comes out of nowhere. It's from contractions too. As long as there is no regularity in the contractions (back and vaginal), you don't need to worry. My doc said not to come in until contractions were 5 minutes apart. As for your cramping, I'm not too sure about that. I haven't really begun that, but I've been told by some of my friends with babies that it's normal and it's your uterus getting ready for the delivery. Also, laying down is uncomfortable, standing up is uncomfortable - no matter what you're doing, it's uncomfortable! I guess it's one of the many joys of pregnancy! In the meantime, just try to keep calm and pay close attention to your body. If you get concerned about anything, give your doctor's office a call. Best wishes and congrats on your little one!

You are going through what all mothers go through this late in the pregnancy. Pains, aches, swelling feet, there can be braxton hicks contractions in preparation for the birth. So you have to make a trip to the ER get checked to be sure it's not labor, it's probably not the first trip, nor the last! This is tedious, anxious work girl!Best of luck!

It does sound like it could be the beginning stages of labor. Just time your contractions closely and once they become about 5 minutes apart call or go to the hospital. In the mean time walk around, squat, have sex if you can, this will help your baby move down the birth canal and make way for delivery day. Best wishes! :)

There's such a thing as "back labor" depending on where the baby is the contractions can start in your back. I would call your doc, looks like you may be in or going into labor soon
