Can a person who filed for bankruptcy be given a bank credit?

and if so, how long after filing?

    Not sure what you mean by "bank credit".

    If you mean a credit card, you can probably get a card with a low limit ($500) if you secure it with a deposit. You might be better off going with either a credit union or a smaller, local bank where you actually get to see the dude or dudette who makes those decisions. Those big banks are too impersonal, and right now running scared with all the bank closings.

    What do you mean by bank credit? You can usually get a secured bank credit card right after a bankruptcy. A bank loan - probably not for a number of years.

    im not sure what you mean by a bank credit? do you mean a loan or a credit card? i know ppl who filed bankruptcy who were able to buy a house just 4 years later...so anything is possible

    Actually, I believe you will be flooded with credit card applications. They understand you need to rebuild your credit, but the APR rates will be high and they will likely cap your line of credit.
