New Years Eve celebrations - San Francisco?
I will be in San Francisco for New Years Eve. Are there any public celebrations? Where are they? I will be staying down near Fishermans Wharf.
I am from Sydney, and I am used to huge celebrations with fireworks and stuff.

There will be a brief fireworks show at midnight down by the water.
There's a lot going on. Just google San Francisco New Years Eve for extensive lists.

Hey. I live in Sf and was actually down in Syndey For Christmas/New Years about 6 years ago. Kind of reminded me of San Francisco (with warmer weather). I also remember seeing cutout kangaroos on the Big Christmas tree near downtown (I think the area was something Harbor. Ha!
Anyway, the fireworks have gone downhill in recent years in SF, but basically there are a few shows along the and most people head to the Embarcadero. Weather can be a bit difficult, so it's best to have another plan as well. There are a few good websites that have updated information like http://www.sfnewyears.com,/ http://www.crawlsf.com,/ http://www.sfstation.com/ and a few others that you can use.
