Books suggestions for a total book-addict?

Hey there!

I'm craving for a good read right now. Anyone got any good suggestions? I like a variety of things really, not just one genre.

Books I've read, from the top of my head.. include:

Mystery/Adventure/Espionage - Dan Brown books, Clive Cussler books, Matthew Reilly books

Fantasy (I'm just not that big a fan of dragons)- Artemis Fowl series, Harry Potter series, Runemarks, Twilight series

Historical Fiction - The Last Concubine, The Other Boleyn Girl (+the other books), The Borgia Bride, Painting Mona Lisa

Others include - The Book of a Thousand Days, The Penelopiad

suggestions on books with a child genius perhaps? or with a lot of light humour. maybe something that's gripping and exciting or complete fantasy with elves, gnomes and the supernatural. I'm quite interested in norse mythology now. Or maybe something historical, interesting but not boring. anything along those lines.

Thanks to all who answer! I sound a little demanding up there but I truly am desperate. Thanks in advance again!

Well I recommend anything by Sue Grafton, Janet Evanovich or Robert Parker for mysteries. With Grafton and Evanovich they're books are in a series so I'd get a paperback of an early one for a test drive to see if you like it. A is for Alibi is Grafton's first mystery with her PI Kinsey Milhone and they are awesome. In Evanovich's One for the Money we meet Stephanie Plum who gets a job as a bounty hunter. But when she goes out on a hunt don't think Dog the Bounty Hunter, think Lucy and Ethel running around.Evanovich adds a lot of humor in her books, there is mystery but when you read about her Grandmother or any of the supporting cast you'll see what I mean. Of course Parker writes Spenser for Hire series, Jesse Stone and Sunny Randell. But I'm partial to Spenser cause of the show. LOL If you're looking for something heavier I like Thomas Harris' Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal and Hannibal Rising. But I gotta warn you not everyone is strong enough to enter the mind of a serial killer like this. So watch it. Enjoy

If you looking for light humour then About a Boy is a good book as is PS i Love You and many of Catherine Alliot's books are also quite funny.

If you looking for something classic or romantic then i would say Pride and Prejudice and Atonement are great.

Lee Child books are very good - they are action/thriller type though.

Shakespear's secret by J.L Carrell is a very interesting read aswell.

The Necroscope series by Brian Lumley is my latest obsession...a horror type book if you like that.

And The interpretation of murder by Jed Rubenfield is a great book if youre interested in Psychology.

    Hope I helped =]

-Great biography, published 30 years ago, but fast-paced and fascinating: "Catherine The Great" ( of Russia).

    - " A Confederacy of Dunces' by John Kennedy O'Toole (Toole?) Wacky, fun characters (novel) won a ton of awards only AFTER the author's young death.
