why does all my fruit get moldy?

I buy fruit and display it on my table in a basket, about 3-4 days later it's getting mold and shrinking... i know i don't eat it fast enough but is there a problem? what can i do to keep it fresh longer?

As the others have already said, "refrigerate". If you want to put fruit on display, go to a craft store and buy some of the very real-looking fake fruit. Then make sure that your family knows that the fresh fruit is in the fridge - and not to eat the fake stuff. Don't laugh - people have tried!

You need to put all the fruits in the fridge if you want to keep it fresh longer. You can display fresh fruits for a maximum of 2 days. After that. just eat it up or use the fridge!!!

dont buy it ripe. Like banans buy them a little more green than yellow. Some things do not need refrigeration. Go to your local produce section in a grocery store and really check and see which ones are under refigeration and which are just on display tables. Usually apples, oranges and bananas are not refrigerated. Even melons can be outta the fridge.

I know that fruit tastes best when it's room temp, but it keeps longer in the refrigerator. It will bruise just by laying on top of each other. I keep apples, bananas and oranges in a fruit bowl, but keep the other fruit in the refrigerator.

the fridge will make it last longer. Plus, some fruits rott faster than others and putting them with other fruits will also cause them to rott as well. You can keep bananas, apples and oranges together in a basket but thats it

The fruit is naturally composting. Keep it in the fridge it will last longer, and if you prefer room temperature fruit, then take whatever you want out of the fridge a couple of hours earlier so it can "warm up."

As others have said - refrigerate! You could also try buying less at a time, so you only eat what you need and refresh your stock a couple of times a week.

Also, if you have bananas keep them seperately - they emit an enzyme which causes other fruit near it to ripen more quickly.

Do you keep the Temp in your house really hot?

Because if so fruit can get moldy faster in heated environment. So either make your house cooler or put your fruit in a fridge.

    Hey

maybe because they have been left out for a long period of time.

if you do keep them in a fridge its a really bad idea espeshily for bananas.

check your fruit begore buying as well, you want to get your moneys worth these days so buy the ripest fruit you enjoy.

and on average fruit stales out between 6-8 days odd.

It's old when you buy it in the first place and it may be too warm in your kitchen
