What's so bad about lice?
What do they do? Do they harm you? They don't carry diseases, right?

Head lice do not carry diseases unlike body lice. Only they cause lots of itching, and reproduce quickly. They are also disgusting if you had to look at one under a microscope. They cannot actually harm you but they feed on your blood, that is why they hurt so much.
Once they are on ones scalp they reproduce creating nits (their eggs). They usually stick to the hair. One would need special shampoo to get rid of them once and for all.
Surprisingly enough they always end up on healthy clean hair! (This doesn't mean that you mustn't wash it!)
Remember never place your head against some one else's as they may pass on to your head if the other person has them, or wearing someone else's hat or even using some one else's hair brush.

Apart from the itching (which is the obvious one) they can cause cuts to your scalp, if you scratch to much, which would be very uncomfortable and it would sting. Not to mention the harmful effects it would have on a persons social life, nobody wants to be within a 1 mile radius of a person who has lice.

They make you itch, they can carry diseases, think of it as fleas for people. You treat your dog right away, so why wouldn't you do the same for yourself?
