High fructose corn syrup verses corn syrup?
my husband & I are trying to eat healthier and cut out as much high fructose corn syrup as we can. We were reading the ingredients on a box of cereal and found it to have HFCS as one of its ingredients. But another box just said corn syrup. Is there a difference and is corn syrup healthier. Also what about the bottle of corn syrup in my cabinet? When I was a kid thats what we put on our pancakes.

I get a monthly health letter and the author said to not eat or drink anything with HFCS in it. He gave a lot of good reasons and sorry to say I can't remember them all.
some were it is a lot sweeter than any kind of sweetener and has a lot more calories and it does something to unbalance the glucose in your body. The reason I don't use it is because of the intense sweet flavor. It's goes past good and ruins the taste for me. I bought 3 boxes of cookies and they were so sweet, I threw them all out.
The old fashioned corn syrup is ok. Molasses is very good on your pancakes and it's very healthy.

you are right to stay away from high fructose corn syrup
corn syrup in moderation probably isn't that bad

Has to do with corn prices in the US. Corn is dirt cheap here. Sugar is expensive. As for the bass master guy's answer, pricing doesn't have as much to do with the contents in this case as it does with a country's purchasing power, which is a whole diatribe into economics that I don't feel like getting into right now.

neather of them are very good for you. like everything, good in moderation. but it can some time make sensitive people very moody. along with strong food dyes. i try to stay away from it, but its very hard because its in alot of food. try health food stores. or try Amazon.com i hear they sell health food now. :)
