Do you have to write every letter of your name in a signature?
I don't and never did. I've been told that I have a signature like a doctor. Now that my last name has changed, I'm having a hard time making a new signature. Now I am wondering if you need to show every letter of the name. In the past, you can only tell my first, middle and last names initials.

twofold answer:
1)legally your signature can be anything you define it as. An X (has to be witnessed), a pretty design (better make sure it's on file with your bank), chinese characters, and yes, your initials with your own personal squiggle.
However 2)just remember, the simpler it is, the easier it is to forge.

No, not really. Honestly, it makes it more unique. I look at a million signatures a day, and I've seen so many where they just use one letter of the last name, and then loop the letter, followed by scribbles. A signature is usually better this way, because they become much harder to forge.

YOUR signature is how YOU sign your name. It is hard to change your signature but if you want to - just fill about 3 sheets of paper and you will get it down. Often the last few letters of my name are just a squiggly line

I get told the same thing about my signature.
You can pretty much only decipher maybe 3 letters.. and there are 18 total in my name. =)
I sign my name entirely too much to care if it's legible. But on anything important, they'll just match your signature so it's not a big deal.

no, it doesnt even have to be your name it can be an X if you want as long as you start with the same signature and dont try and change it afterwards as that will cause cofusion with banks or whatever, but its best to make it as hard as possible to copy so nobody can steal your identity just sign the way it feels comfortable to you and maybe try and add something that people would find hard to copy.

No you do not. Your signature could be an X as long as you always right it the same way so it can be attributed to you.
