Unless you are financially independent, is there a choice? Let's just hope the scope of the greed doesn't keep spreading and companies keep crashing. If they do, it's going to be really bad, really, really bad for John and Jane. It's already bad, but it truly can get much worse. What do people expect after years of shipping jobs overseas for cheaper labor and allowing illegals to work here, taking the lowest paying jobs and affecting the poorest among us the most? Corporate America's executive level of management, their compensation packages are obscene. It does not help America if corporations lay off people to decrease costs in order to increase profit by hiring cheap labor. That may be good for the company, but it does not help the average American who needs to work for a living one little bit. We are seeing the result of greed, it's really that simple.

Jane and John aren't holding up too well under crisis after crisis, and the end isn't in sight at the momenht. Remembering stories about the Great Depression, the current situation isn't far from those horrific tales. Tent cities are already cropping up across the nation, and the White House is more worried about saving Wall Street and the banking conglomerates. Typical trickle-down theory of economics where the working stiff tries to grab a few crumbs.

I'm lucky. I'm a business owner and work in the environmental field. The government is imposing more and more rules on air pollution and that's good for my business. However I have plenty of friends and family members who aren't faring as well. I don't know how the average, middle class person is able to make it these days.

Well, it would be nice for once if companies were just allowed to go bankrupt.
Why shouldn't my mortgage be redone?
Why should I even pay my mortgage?
While the same people that caused the problem are the same ones that will still be millionaires and still do the same work?

Just fine. Absolutely nothing going on with investment banks or wall street have anything to do with the average joe. In fact, they are going to find a great big present with their mortgage terms that they will no longer have to live up to.
