What do you think about all these bailouts?
More multi Billion dollar bailouts announced today. Why? Because they had to do something drastic or we would have gone into a depression like in the 30's within days they said. Now the president says this will stabilize the financial sector and build confidence for investors. It will also stabilize the economy. If that's true, why then do I feel like I'm on the Titanic and there are NO life boats aboard. The dike is ready to break and all they have to fix it is bubble gum. If this doesn't work, and there are no guarantees here, then what are they going to do, sent us more stimulus checks?

You feel the way you do because you don't understand what is going on. All the government is doing is sequestering the bad debt of the financial sector to allow business to proceed. Then they are going to examine the regulatory structure with an eye to reworking it so this mess doesn't happen again. Then, over time, they will recycle what they can of the bad debt into the market. this will restore some of the money to the government but not all. If business does not increase, we are still in for a depression. Otherwise, over time, we will pull out of it in fine shape.

I am torn by this. I think that we should allow them to fail, but too many would suffer. There had better be prosecutions and prison sentences for all involved!
They tried to pass out more stimulus checks, it got defeated. Don't worry though, Nancy says she will attach it to other bills!
Democratic leaders held out hope that the continuing struggles of the economy might prompt Bush to reconsider his opposition to a second stimulus measure. But if not, Democrats would at least benefit politically from witnessing Republicans and Bush block the initiative

You are not only on the Titanic with out a life boat, you are locked in steerage and your descendants will be paying the bills for the wealthy survivors. Our country is trillions of dollars in debt, and now we are bailing out the wealthy. Bush could have taken over the mortgages and guaranteed the 401ks and let the rest of it fail. i shudder at the thought that this government wants to shift social security to forced wall street investment. That will be an aging population with some real fears.

Businesses always howl about "free" enterprise and excessive government interference.................until they get in trouble.
It is at this time that the tune changes and government intervention is yippy skippy lovely.
If businesses operate in a free market, they should be free to sink or swim. All businesses are risk ventures, but the tears sure do flow copiously when the risks come home to roost, don't they?
Our government has continually reassured us that financial institutions cannot fail these days, as they did in the great depression, because our government is ever vigilant and has safeguards in place to insure that there will be no repeat of 1929. Other fairy tales are available at your government printing offices...............................

however the government won't be ready to easily provide this funds away... they are making an investment it. they gets it back, with a income. in the event that they pay off 20% of everybody's loan (which might fee lots greater desirable than $seven-hundred billion) they'd not get it back. This $700B is basically an approximate selection equivalent to approximately 5% of concepts-blowing mortgages, it is what they assume to default. it could be $4trillion in the event that they gave everybody a 20% decrease fee. i'm no longer even going to invest as to how lots paying off everybody's mortgages could be. You sound such as you do no longer comprehend something in any respect approximately any of this. attempt examining some thing until eventually now having this variety of solid (and ignorant) opinion.

Hate them. It is a stalling tactic by congressmen to coverup evidence and throwup a big smokescreen. suckers will buy into this stupid distraction. The bottom line is clear and all this delay are just more trickery and bs. it is time to pay the piper and i agree that we need some hearings immediately and punishments to fit these collosal crimes of trust and thievery.
