What adjective would you choose as your Christian Name?

I was recently reading "London", a Edward Ruthurfurd novel, where a Quaker family with a bunch of daughters named the girls Faith, Hope, Charity, Patience, and Perseverance before finally having a son who they named "O Be Joyful".

With all respect to those who name their children with adjectives as Given Names, what word would you choose to have as your name?

Update:

Ha HA!!

Okay yes those words are nouns, (nicely caught there, clever people), but you knew what I meant...they are descriptive.

(But yes, nouns. D'oh!)

I'm going to have a turn and go with "Resilience".

Update 2:

Thanks for your comment Jeme, I hope you didn't see disrespect in my question. I have a friend named "Faith", and see no issue with the use of such descriptive words as proper nouns.

My own "real" name means "He who brings into submission"...a nice thought.

I don't know of that book but I found it strange that the names you've listed would be considered only "adjectives" at first glance (correction: they are nouns). They all have meanings --all names have meanings. I believe that people should consider the effects that name may have on a child throughout life. Remembering Jacob (heel grabber, cheater, trickster) and how he stole Esau's birth right.

Spiritually: I also believe we do speak things into existence and plant seeds--both positive and negative--by the words we used with, about and to call our children.

On the practical side: If you call your child a cheater from the day he/she is born and that child knows what that word means, how will it affect him/her. What we call our children can and does have a part in their character development and self-esteem. (One reason we should avoid ever calling them, stupid, dummy, etc.)

Back to the spiritual that flows into the natural/practical: Since Jacob definitely spoke Hebrew, he would have known what his name mean. Could he have grown into that expectation? It appears so. Would it be any different today? If I called my child "Faith" or "Hope," I would pray for that child to have faith or to have hope or to be faithful or hopeful.

One of those names you've listed IS my given name. As a child, I got a bit of teasing from silly school children but as I matured, I learned to appreciate the thought my parents put into naming me. I thank God for their thoughtfulness. Many of the children born in my family have been given at least one biblical name.

BTW, there are many girls name "Joy."

    ______

No, didn't consider it disrespectful but seemed more like many things we all take for granted--names, I mean. Used my own name in example above...

Hope <----- you could not IMAGINE the ribbings I got as a kid.

expensive Berean, I in simple terms examine Biblestudents07's question and his chosen suited answer. I oftentimes dislike it while a query is going to a vote because of the fact as is so often the case the worst answer receives chosen as "suited" by making use of a few electorate. besides the incontrovertible fact that hence the asker ignored your very suited answer and chosen an answer that become under the suited. on each occasion I see people who're "gleefully chortaling" i'm almost a hundred% particular that they don't seem to be Born-back Christians no remember how plenty they protest that they are Christians. i think of that too many surely everyone seems to be mixing Christianity and fatalism mutually. might God help us! Edit: you're so desirable, Berean. it isn't the factors that remember yet conversing the reality in love. Ezekiel makes it sparkling that our heavenly Father does not want each individual to be without end separated from Him. while people comprehend that they could be sharing the solid information with people who do not yet comprehend it. we are to be watchmen (Ezekiel 3:18-22) and to furnish warning yet to not sentence. regrettably too many people do not obey and that they are going to be held to blame not in basic terms for his or her own disobedience yet additionally the unforgiven sin of those they gave fake prophecy to or did not warn.

Funny how all of those are nouns and everone's answers are also nouns. And no, I'm not saying that they're nouns because they're being used to name people (Proper Nouns), I'm saying that they're nouns because they are nouns (Abstract Nouns), not adjectives.

    --edit--

Okay, so you want [Abstract] Nouns.

Love, Patience, Kindness, Modesty, Respect, Selflessness, Peace, Loyalty, Hope, Trust, Faith, Joy, Peace, Goodness.

"Faith, Hope, Charity, Patience, and Perseverance"

    Those aren't adjectives. They're nouns.
