Not all dealers are out to screw you. They just need to make a living like everyone else. Many times we have found a customer being charged $300 to read a code from an outside shop and tell the customer to go to the dealer--NO repair made! What the....??we could Never get away with that!
Climbing down off my soapbox now.....back to your car---this model has had catalyst efficiency issues(code) and as an emission part is warranted for 80,000 miles(remember the shop that charged $300 and sent customer to the dealer? for the repair) Quite possible this will cost you nothing if this is the case-at the dealer. Don't guess at throwing parts at your car. Many times the experts who know your vehicle can actually save you money. $100 can save you thousands. Good Luck--T&T

i guess you are not experiencing any sort of problem with your car and then suddenly the ''check engine'' light begins to light up.
This is common with the new cars.
You can go to an Autozone parts store or a few others and they will do a qick computer scan for free. ( Hopeing that you will buy any parts you need from them. Thus, they make more business).
However IF you do get it scanned,,dont just run in the door and buy parts. Instead COPY down the code #s and go to a wabsite and ask questions. These code #s are subject to interpretation based on engine performance and which clump of #s come out of the scanner.
For instance ,,,many times you will get an O2 sensor fault--- in does not mean that the sensor is bad--it just shows up as a result of different other probles---yet many people buy O2 sensors from Autozone at around $65 a pop and it does nt solve the problem because there is nothing wrong with the one that was in the car.
Dealers are just as bad,,,thier mechanics tend to replace good parts also at you expense.

Any decent car repair shop is able to fix it,not only dealers, wanna fix yourself?Buy a cheap OBDII scanner, extract the code or codes then see what it says then post the problem,or for now, just remove 1 battery cable, preferably negative side, leave it out about a minute, reinstall, light will go away until the PCM sees the problem again.Just hope that only for a loose gas cap.
