Would you buy a car that runs on Diesel fuel and gets 65mpg?
Ford has a diesel car they are manufacturing in Europe. They will not bring it here to the US because they believe there isn't a market for it.
Would you buy it?? I would.....................
I think you are right Chad!!
As I understand it Diesel engines require less maintenance too. That is also a cost savings.

I guess they are waiting to see how the Jetta TDI does. That's going to launch in about a month. The thing with Americans is they are stupid. They think, "Durr... diesel is .40 cents more. I'd just stay with gas." Without doing the math and realizing that the diesel they are spending $.40 more for will take them twice as far as gas.

How much would Ford charge for the car? If the price of the car as much as the combined cost of a gas-powered car, its gas, and its maintenance, then the diesel car would have to require no maintenance and no fuel to be cost-effective. If the Ford is a brand new car for $100, sure!

it is amazing how economical , quiet and powerful the diesel engines are lately....one drawback is that diesel engines are more expensive to maintain than petrol engines ( services etc )
Not sure about the Ford diesels and the reliability, but I took a 1.9 TDI Polo for a spin one day and I could not believe the power and refinement of this vehicle....best is take a few diesel models for a test drive and check with the people who already own them..

Not unless it got from 0-60 in less than six seconds (pref. under five - I'm spoiled by my S2000 and brand new WRX STI) and pulled a lateral G in a turn.
But I'd like to see it sold here. Clean diesels are awesome for the average driver!
