Where is the shift solenoid on a 2001 Toyota Tundra?
My truck has been running very rough in the last 2 days when I put truck in reverse it shakes real bad and kills. When Im going forward I have to give it lots of gas to take off, when Im going fast it does ok, but when I start slowing down it will shake and kill. The check engine light came on so I went to auto zone and they hooked it up to the computer reader and he printed the paper out that said the problem was the shift solenoid. Is this going to be something I can go buy and fix myself or is it going to have to be done by a technician? Also, about how much is this going to cost?

Should be done by a technician,Toyota transmissions have about 5 solenoids mounted on the valve body, and they are not called shift solenoids, have to identify through service manual. Some of them required to remove the valve body out of transmission to see. Each solenoid cost around $200 bucks.
