How many gourds should my SNAKE GOURD plant produce? ?
I am growing a snake gourd, and though the vines are about 15 feet long, I only have 3 gourds. They are about 4 feet long. It keeps blooming, and starts to get the little finger sized gourds, then they die off. Any suggestions? should I cut back the long vines? thanks

Make sure you are fertilizing it, especially if it is in a pot. For next year, if you want more gourds you may have to pollinate the flowers yourself. The female flowers will have a nodule or bump at the base of the flower, this is what grows into the gourd after they are fertilized. The male flowers do not have this nodule, simply take a small paintbrush and rub it in the center of the male flowers, and transfer the pollen from the males to the females. This will give you a better crop next time.

Its geting late in the season and there geting stimulated to finish and die. If you want more start them earlyer next year and give them plenty of space watter sunlight and compost. For longer gords grow them up a tall trellis.
