How do I adjust my system so it has RAM needed to install something?

I've tried to install Illustrator but it says I need to upgrade or adjust my system and restart the install.

512mb minimum is required, that's all I have and all I can have on this computer. So the the question would be how do I adjust the system so I can get this thing going.

I have 2.23 gb free space if that matters at all.

If you only have 2.23GB free space, you need to get another hard drive.

You should have at least %10-%15 free space on your boot drive else you are looking for a system crash.

Your laptop is obviously old enough to be in a museum

Time to get a new laptop with 4 gigs RAM

Your laptop probably has crappy chipset integrated graphics chip that also stealing some RAM from the system - you could try to see if there are any settings to give less memory to the video card

Also if you have 2x256 models of RAM, you could attempt 2x512 or 2 x 1 gig - often the laptop's owners guide says the limit is something but it will still accept larger modules... worth a try if you can get a computer shop to try it for you or can return any RAM you buy...

Just install it will run fine. But you need to clear hard drive space because windows will run unstable with just that much space left. Good luck.
