each element in this sequenece is a term. the first term is 5, the second is 6, etc.

so what would be the 5th term? 9 right? the rule for the 5th term is: start from 5 and add 4.

so the rule for the nth term is start from 5 and add n-1:

    nth term = 5+n-1 = 4+n

check that it works for the 3rd term for example: 4+3=7 which is the third term. Now it will work for any term you like (n).

    5 + (n-1)

your first term is 5 + (n = the number in the sequence minus 1)

    it is easy!

here is how you do it.

    5,6,7,8 and so on right?

well it is increasing by one.

    for example if it was

    3,6,9,12

    it would increase by three.

just look for the pattern in the numbers look for the increase in the numbers or decrease.

Increase is how much it goes up and decrease is how much it goes down.

here is how your answer will look like.

    The ninth term is 13.

because I started at 5 and kept increasing by one.

    5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13

    hope I helped!

Perhaps it would help if you typed out the original question. I can't really understand what you are saying.

I think the answer for your problem is n+1, where n is the variable, and you add one each time.
